Rob and Jill Baker established Northbridge Physiotherapy Clinic in 1971, principally treating spinal and peripheral musculoskeletal conditions. During the 1980’s a special interest developed in the management of sports injuries.
This involvement in sports rehabilitation stimulated an interest in occupational rehabilitation, was resultant expansion of staffing expertise and facilities. This included comprehensive exercise and hydrotherapy services in addition to conventional physiotherapy treatment. In 1995, the gymnasium was enlarged and latest equipment installed including a laminar hydrotherapy pool imported from the USA. This laminar pool was the first of its type in Australia.
In May 2008, the practice was taken over by John Annear (Rob’s nephew) and Gary Russo, who have continued to develop the practice including upgrading the gymnasium and the purchase of world-class isokinetic testing equipment imported from the USA in 2010. In addition, a clinical Pilates studio was installed at Northbridge Physiotherapy in May 2009.
The services at Northbridge Physiotherapy Clinic are now utilised by major retail groups, mining companies, small businesses, professional and amateur athletes as well as private individuals.
